I'm excited to try them out this weekend.

A few thoughts/suggestions:

1) The differing armors should have a minor incentive for each. It's almost always worth 1 point to upgrade a unit from light to medium armor. Maybe light armor offers an initiative boost?

2) Are shields less effective than bucklers at parrying? Being smaller than a shield, I'd be surprised if this is true. But it may be?

3) Regeneration's rules are a bit complex and require remembering to roll them after a lot of things have transpired within a phase. I think it'd be easier to simply make it a save like before.

None of these suggestions are a big deal, just some thoughts. Great work! I hope an army builder or battle scribe file for the standard fantasy armies will become available for this some day.Jayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11393051173521269855noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5146247400252399097.post-38490982022430245342018-09-10T14:05:29.861+02:002018-09-10T14:05:29.861+02:00Wow. Page 90 describes open ground as terrain. Had a game today where my opponent did this to me and I could not argue (rule wise) that he was wrong in saying that the entire board was now difficult terrain because open ground still counts as terrain. Games Workshop had an Errata out for that spell, can you please adjust the wording to also describe that open ground does not constitute terrain as being a part of the spell. Initially, I wanted the Elves to just stand out on their improved stats alone, but let's face it; every single race have some unique special rule to stand out from each other in addition to their different stats (apart from humans, but they usually have their own army special rule anyway). Right now, the Elves do have their own army special rule to make them stand out from each other, but I agree they need something extra.

While the models in the Elven armies are balanced from a straight points perspective, they do lack access to affordable troops like most other armies (who might also have expensive elites, but can combine that with cheaper core troops).

I will add Elven Grace to the Wood Elves book, and shortly after that, update High Elves and Dark Elves with the same rule :)Mathias Eliassonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04195284488235566397noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5146247400252399097.post-51695354932715333192018-06-30T15:20:23.415+02:002018-06-30T15:20:23.415+02:00Mathias: Added a lot of new comments under the Dar...Mathias: Added a lot of new comments under the Dark Elf army book thread as well as somethoughts on the WoC in the forum. The Runehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00664924996413610568noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5146247400252399097.post-25394090063062040312018-06-29T02:39:46.962+02:002018-06-29T02:39:46.962+02:00By having this property, you could also use it to ...By having this property, you could also use it to potentially seperate "professional" soldier types such as the Dread spears from the city Guard, as well as the HE spearmen from the riff-raff of their society (warriors, caugh, caugh...)

It's an option at least, but it might be preferable to keep it racial thing amongst all elves if implemented. The Runehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00664924996413610568noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5146247400252399097.post-41633632616372350362018-06-28T02:30:09.589+02:002018-06-28T02:30:09.589+02:00My space bar on my tablet has become very slow to ...My space bar on my tablet has become very slow to respond, so I apologize for the errors guys. The Runehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00664924996413610568noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5146247400252399097.post-59393600122290014222018-06-28T02:28:03.313+02:002018-06-28T02:28:03.313+02:00On the subject of elves:

I posted some of my thoughts regarding their cost in detail under the last High Elf army book thread btw.

The main concern is offcourse the loss of ASL, which Iunderstand, due to the way the constant re-rolls slowed down the game, how it was irrational thatelves always gotto strikefirst etc, so I think Mathias did the right think removingthat, but it still leaves elves in a bit of a stateasfar as cost-efficiency goes, but more than that perhaps, elves don't really feel all that skilled for S3/T3 troop any more. Where they could usually make up for the lack of strength with a high number of hits (from 50% hit chance against similar WS enemies to 75%, and even better against lower WS enemies), this is now gone. Since who strikes first rerely matters until the very end ofalong combat with few models left, any similarcost regiment of elves will pretty much get slaughtered whenfacing a similar cost regiment of tougher/stronger troops (such as dwarves).

This isan issue for both High andDark Elves, but might become even moreofan issue for the low armour wood elves that benefit more from an ambushing playstyle.

As it stands right now, I think the cost of elves need to come down across the board, or a litte rebalancing needs to be done.

I have a suggestion which I think is rather simple however:

New special Rule for elves:

"Elven Grace": When a model with this special rule is fighting a modelwith a lower Initiative score (use thehighest initiative score of the enemy model), then the elven model getsa+1 on his To Hit roll.

-This cuts down on the re-rolls, which cuts down on time
-It does not grant any Always Strike First
-It help slow Strength/high cost elves compete in the current meta where armour is a bit more ofan issue to overcome
-It pretty much leaves the cost of elves fine as is across the board in the High Elf/Dark Elf lists
-It makes elves feel a bit more like well, elves...

I might have overlooked some apect, but as it is a much more moderate change than GW first did when they added ASF to all elves across the board, and it is simpler, I think it is worth considering at least...
