I've taken the liberty of adding a small chart for Alliance and Alignment for my army books as per popular request, so you won't have to worry about which armies can ally each other.
I also added two of my painting threads for Dogs of War and Araby in case anyone is interested or is looking for some inspiration. I will add Dark Elves in the near future as well.

If you want to play them like that, then go ahead (it's not like I am going to try to stop you ;) However, there are a lot of people who got to know the Norse way back in the day, where they where more historical Vikings than Chaos marauders. To this day, the Norse are often more seen as traders rather than crazed berserkers, but there's plenty of both sides to go around, hence they are Non-aligned :)
