Sneak Peak: New cover art for Cathay and Nippon

A few of the book covers was criticised a bit for being well, not that good, quite simply. Not wanting to disappoint, I decided to do something about it and switch covers for the upcoming 8th ed updates. Also first time playing around with masking in photoshop, as can be seen on the Cathay Warlord's hand.
I also want to give you a heads-up on the Nippon book - it's going to look a lot different. Several units are being removed, and nothing less than 9 new units are being added, as well as 8 new special characters, their own Lore and Clan Mon, and nearly every unit will have new special rules. On top of that, nearly all background fluff is being replaced, and the 19-page timeline will likely be removed entirely.

Anyway, what do you think of the new covers, yay or nay? Hopefully yay, 'cause I don't want to have to change them again :p

    1. Well, you can never satisfy everyone, can ya! :p

I think I'm gonna go with this new cover for Cathay though, it's more in line with the current GW theme that have one captain/champion in the foreground with an army around him. The current Cathay cover doesn't really fit that theme.

    1. I'm working it little by little, but there are so many other books as well, gah! Finished the new colour background yesterday and fiddled around with some more special rules.
The problem with adding so many new units (one from each clan) is that I must make sure there aren't a bunch of redundant units in the list, which is why some of the older ones are being removed.
I do think the end result will be pretty damn awesome though, just need to make sure I do those new special characters justice as well ;)

    1. It's from Age of Empires III - Asian Dynasties, so it should be familiar if you played that game ;)
Spent ages looking for it without the logo, when I suddenly found it while search for something else, lol!
