- New units: Broken Lances, Pit Fighters, Hobgoblin Wolf Riders, Ribaults, Ballistae, Assassins, Griffons.
- Rebalanced points costs for several units, e.g cheaper pikemen and crossbowmen.
- New weapons and rebalanced old weapons: war hammers and blunderbusses, slightly weaker pikes, improved light crossbows.
- Improved formatting and layout throughout the entire books.
- Lots of new background for many units.
- Plenty of new art.
Links are the same as before.
There is an explanation for the stronger pikes on the Estalian book? Internal balance maybe? Or they're just an outdated version?
ReplyDeleteThe Estalia book is a little outdated now yes. I intend to have a patch out reasonably soon to make it in line with this update,
DeleteWhen a ribault fires, the number of shots is determined by a 1d6 or by an artillery dice? It's not clear (at least for me) in the description.
ReplyDeleteIt's by both:
Delete"roll one artillery dice and one D6 to find out how many shots are fired"
"the number of shots fired is equal to the total on the dice"
"Dice" in this case, is in plural. Fault of the language, I'm afraid.
So the total number os shots fired is: artillery dice + 1d6 right? That makes the ribault much better than I thought :)
DeleteCorrect. However, since you still have to roll To Hit (compared to teh organ gun), most of those shots are still gonna miss though.
DeleteGreat work again! I will try this out straight after Estalia. -> Therefore I msg. you Mathias, concerning some "rule" questions we were keen to know, what you have had in mind. Would be nice, if you can give uns feedback. Thanks in advance :)
ReplyDeleteHello I am surfmeh from the dogsofwaronline forum and I must be an idiot because I cannot find the most current discussion of the book for updated rules and typo fixing.
ReplyDeleteFantastic work again! I love the addition of Assassins and the hobgoblins since I was wondering why the special Kahn would be useful unless you took the RoR. I was curious about why we did not have any black powder units aside from the cannon but it is much better now. I was curious about only the paymaster's body guard getting the option for blunderbusses and there being no equivalent to rifles or use of them in more than 1 unit.
I did find 2 typos halflings have “May upgrade one Marauder to” instead of "May upgrade one Halfing to" for all 3 Command upgrades.
In addition in Forward March the flavor text has "order to marsh" instead of "order to march"
Lastly I had a question about the Stradiots and Hobgoblin Wolf Riders. I noticed in the Dark Elf book that dark riders can now take shield and light amour but they still keep the Fast Cavalry rule. Is this something we should get as well or are we saying that the Elves have better fast cav?
Hi, this is the subforum you are looking for: http://dogsofwaronline.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?fid=28
DeleteWe wanted to stay away from gunpowder to make the book feel less like an Empire clone, hence there are no handguns and limited blunderbusses.
Fixed the typos.
This is to keep it in line with other 8th ed books that still lose the FC rule when both are taken. This also means that the equipment options can be cheaper and still not a no-brainer option.
Hi, I must ask: why Slayer Pirates and Malakai don't have special rule "Deathblow" and "Slayer" from Dwarfs Armybook?
ReplyDeleteThat's because they are using pistols rather than slayer axes. It's also a bit tricky to reload a gunpowder pistol and fire it with one dying breath ;)
