New Hobgoblin update and 9th ed version out now!

This update changes the following:

  • Kheshig have the Vanguard rule.
  • Rhinox have a 5+ save.
  • Giants are ItP.

  1. -Chieftains, Khans and Keshig still have the Mounted Dual Wield special rule.
-There is a formatting error in the Hobhound special rules where it says 'Skirmishersm Expendable'.
-I'm not sure about everything in the 'Burn it Down!" special rule except for the last part about War Machines and Chariots. No other army book can use flaming attacks to light buildings and forests on fire.
-Maybe Recurve Bows could be represented with Longbows instead?
-Dark Elf and High Elf Bolt Throwers that they put on Chariots fire a 24" range Strength 5 bolt. I think the same should be for the War Wagon.
-Since Deathclaws are a relative of the Trolls, they should have Regeneration (4+), Troll Vomit, and cost 10 points more than regular trolls.
-The Red Gem from the Bag of Sneaky Tricks should grant Immunity (Flaming Attacks) instead of a Ward save.
-Why can't Khans and Chieftains ride Giant Scorpions or War Wagons?

    1. Rhinoxs should also be a possible mount for Khans and Chieftains (replacing one of the crew of course).

    2. - Fixed.
      - Other units don't throw torches for that purpose (though I suppose Dragons should potentially have that rule).
      - Removed recurve bows, gave them Multiple Shots (2) instead (fits well with their fluff).
      - Fixed.
      - They are relatives, not trolls themselves. If they were given troll vomit and regen 4+, what would the difference from just calling them trolls be?
      - Fixed.
      - Those are specialist mounts, Khans are meant to fight from wolfback, so I want to focus to lie on that.

    3. -With Mangudai having Multiple Shots (2), the rule should be given to Khans and Chieftains so that they are not inferior shots compared to Bahkur.
-Have you considered giving Khans and Chieftains access to Throwing Weapons?

    4. - That's because the Mangudai are specialised missile troops, whereas the Khans are simply leaders more focused on close combat. The best archers become Mangudai, the best fighters become Kheshig, and the strongest become Khans.
      - It does not fit them as well, they would rather use bows then. The throwing knives are for the infantry only.

    1. To add the Brigand unit discussed in an earlier blogpost, also likely to include some new fluff blurbs.

  4. based on the fact that all wikis are either 8th ed or AoS should we have our own wiki?

    1. What kind of wiki are you thinking of? The background is the same as 8th ed, which can be found already in various Warhammer wikis on the net.

    6. take nippon for example.
you have made a load of fluff for it yet go to warhammer fantasy wikia with that and they will politly inform you that it is unofficial and so they can't inclued it.
      the same for amazons.
and what if we want to make our own additions to the warhammer world?
and what if we want to add in some of the information that already exists on the web just unofficialy.

really i just want somewhere where i can talk warhammer where i won't have my pages deleted by people who take the view that ALL information MUST be official.
and i won't use 1d4chan unless i must because of the content quality.

  5. I noticed a RAW flaw in the rulebook. The rules say 'Cavalry are subject to the following special rule: Impact Hits (1), Swiftstride. Note that the Impact Hits are resolved at the Strength of the mount, not the rider.' Since the second sentence is only present in the cavalry section, it could be misconstrued as other types of models using the impact hits of the rider in cases where the rider is stronger (such as with Chaos Steeds) so add an additional bullet point in the list of exceptions stating that Impact Hits and Stomps always use the strength of the mount would work. Also, I think that the Impact Hits rule should always use the models profile strength with Impact Hits and Stomps being unaffected by special rules and weapons.

    1. I prefer the Warhammer Armies Project over the 9th age but I've noticed that they have doubled the points cost of everything. It honestly makes sense so that cheap units can be balanced without using half points. You should consider it.

    2. Yeah it's a good move. Also many units in 8th edition versions were much cheaper than in the earlier ones.

But this point change would be better to happen after all the army books are out? Easier to balance things then.

  7. Really enjoyed this. Thank you for all your hard work. Here are some photos I've taken for my Hobgoblin army and some conversions. https://www.facebook.com/cliff.raeder/media_set?set=a.1386991041321961.1073741831.100000332349537&type=3&pnref=story
