It's (almost) official: Bretonnians in July!

For those of you who haven't visited the larger forums; Bretonnia is apparently scheduled for a July release this year! According to the rumours, they are due for plastic Grail/Questing Knights, plastic characters, and Knights on foot!

The reason I decided to bring this up is of course because of my own version, which several of you have asked me what's to happen to it after the official release. As always with my ever-changing mind, I honestly cannot say. I was working on a new update for the book (mainly smaller balance changes and a new layout), but this will at least have to wait until the official release.

What is most likely to happen is that my version will be considered invalid (which is fine), but seeing as people might have already have gotten (or plan to) models for the new units that GW might not add to the book, I will make a special compendium with these units so you can include them with the rest of the official rules. I intend to do the same for all other armies later on as well, to bring back what GW took away, and add new units to boot!

But for now, let's all just cheer that the Brets will finally get their due soon, and I will write up a review for the book as soon as I've read through it. Vive la BretonnĂ!

  1. Well Mathias, I commend you on this and I hope you do this, but lately you haven't come out with anything new, do you feel you might be stretching yourself out too much?

I want to see all your finished products, but why not get some other books finished and update them once they are all done--and you can do this for the armies of games-workshop as well.

I don't know, I would really just like to see a new book out now.

    1. Stretching myself thin is something I did a long time ago (or maybe I just don't eat enough?) ;)

In general, I would like to get all books to a well-polished state rather than just throwing new half-assed stuff out there, which is partly why I've mostly focused on smaller updates the last months. That said, I should now have the time to start working more on the Mordheim characters, so I might have something [relatively] new out soon. The additional units for the official warhammer armies is not something I plan on doing right away, mostly brainstorming ideas at the moment.

  5. hello mathias!
I am very excited for the rumors of bretonnian's near release but, at the same time, i am sad because i was waiting for your bretonnian book so much!
I am that crazy italian guy who sent you plenty of email with suggestions about how to modify some points in your book and i was so happy to see your final work!
Anyway, I understand perfectly your point so even if you won't release your book I thank you so much for your effort and i congratulate with you for your wonderful and fanmade books............in my opinion much better than the GW ones ;-)

    1. Hi,
Depending on how GW's book will fare, I might still have a new version out. If the official rules are awful I would prefer to use my own house rules, in which case I will update my book again. If the GW book is acceptable, I will just add the new units to it and allow you use those units with the official rules :)

  7. My dear friend, i have just read new rumours about what is going to be released by mother GW. It looks like August will be completely dedicated to Space Wolf and 40k new miniatures and codex....this means Bretonnia will suffer the umpteenth delay. Taking into account this fact, do you think you will keep the updated version of your Bretonnia AB in the drawer? Mathias...i really think that if GW goes on like this your book will be the only way of salvation :-)

    1. Hi, I noticed this as well. Yes, I will start working on a new update for Bretonnia again. Can't say exactly when it will be finished since there is so much layout work included, but hopefully sometime in August at least.
