This summer I will hopefully have the time to update each of my books to a complete 8th edition version, rather than the "7.5 ed" that currently apply to most books. This means some layout changes, reformatting the army lists, culling the magic items down to about 10, as well as adding some new units and special characters.
The current list of additional units so far (might be more or less later on):

Can you put for Nippon the lore of the thunder? And I think you can put the Thunder Dragon like a mount. You can put them Jōmon Statues
ReplyDeleteLore of Thunder sounds like it would have a lot of overlap with the Lore of of Heavens. If Nippon will get their own Lore their spells will be based on L5R.
DeleteI just got into Warhammer and was looking for an interesting army to plta. I tried a few but none got me far enough.
ReplyDeleteUntil I found your amazing blog and fantastic books! I fell in love with the Nippon army instantly!
I would really like to see some of the Japanese Gods in the army as very expensive (300-500+ pts) LORD or RARE units, mostly Amaterasu, Tsukuyomi and Susano. I was playing the Chaos Dwarfs and really loved to see something as burning as the K'daai.
Thanks for creating these armies! I'm waiting for the 8th edition patch with some uber-broken 6th level vortex spell.
The thing about the Gods though is that they do not exist on the material plane, at most you would be seeing an avatar of them, which I don't believe would really be the case in Nippon.
DeleteTheir lore should be hopefully just be semi-broken though, just need to decide on which on the 100+ spells from L5R I want to incorporate ;)
The Skyrocket should fill the role of "fireworks cannon" for you, but you might also look to the Cathay book for that.
Oh! And a fireworks cannon would be awesome!
ReplyDeleteAnd what do you think about Jōmon Statues?
ReplyDeleteHow would those work? They sound like a cross between Foo Statues and Terracotta Warriors, which are already part of Cathay.
DeleteI think they can be a unit like pink horrors but with more toughness or like big samurais
DeleteSo they would be spellcasters, or monstrous infantry? Because Monstrous infantry is already covered by Oni, and "big samurai" sounds like Sumo Warriors. If they are spellcasters, the Kitsune already fill that role. I'd like to take a look at them if you finish your Nippon book at some point, but I don't think it's anything that my book needs at the moment.
DeleteWhat's the difference between Medusas and Gorgons? Wasn't Medusa one of the Gorgons' sisters? Or are you refering to the Gorgons from Heroes of Might and Magic III? And how about a Great Guard unit for Cathay, like the one for Nippon? Mounted on Foo Statues? :D
ReplyDeleteGorgons are bulls like those from HoMMIII, yes, but I think I will skip on those since they feel more like something that would fit the Chaos Dwarfs.
DeleteCathay already have a "Guard" unit and a unit of Temple Dogs though, but I have tinkering with the idea of adding another unit of Monstrous Cavalry for them.
Good Job M4cR1II3n!
ReplyDeleteOne suggestion when you will rewrite the Estalia Army Book. Less Spain and more Estalia, especially with especial characters ;)
Yeah, the special characters will probably get new names at least so they are a little less obvious. I won't do much with the main fluff though, as that is at least somewhat "warhammerified" even it is close to Spain's real history.
