Arrr! Warhammer: Pirates of Sartosa finally out now!

Yarr me mateys! Shivers the timbers, raise the sails, and other pirate slang! After almost a year in on-and-off (mostly off) development, I (Mathias) and Stefan Wolf are proud to present: Warhammer: Pirates of Sartosa!

Containing pretty much every pirate stereotype imaginable, this book finally allows you to play an all-pirate list in Warhammer! Cutlasses, pistols, bucklers and blunderbusses are at your disposal, supported by cannons of all sizes with different types of ammo and upgrades. And naturally, since this is a fantasy game after all, there's quite a few sea creatures to go around as well. Were-sharks and sea giants anyone?

The book comes in at a total of 100 pages, with a ton of background on Sartosa, the pirate life, famous pirates and the story of Dreadfleet, all surrounded by high quality artwork. So enjoy pirate fans, I think you are going to like this one!

P.S. In regards to the poll, I intend to reset it once all books receive their proper 8th ed updates, thus giving each book a fair chance in the voting.

Edit: First revision is up, taking care of some rules clarifications and fixes some spelling errors.

  1. Really liked the look of the book and I hope I get a chance to do a full read soon. I however did do a quick look at the rules and did find some small things (mostly grammar and typos).

Under Naval Bombardment the wording is off, is it fire into your deployment zone or from your zone?

The wording for Dirty fighting is also a little unclear. I think it should be something like "... roll an additional to hit die before striking, using the best weapon skill." or something

Shouldn't The pirate lord and captain also has the dirty fighting special rule as well? they seem like the kind of people who would do that.

Under the Navigator entry, p 46, I noticed that in the stat block it is called a Bosun, and also once again I noticed it did not have the dirty fighting rule.

on p 47 under troop type for the deck gunners infantry (character is written)

For the deck cannon (heat shot) and the hell hammer cannon you put +1 to misfire when it should be -1 to misfire if you are trying to make them more dangerous to fire.

on page 86 under sorcerer lord it says upgrade to level 3 wizard, should be level 4.

on p 88 for first mate and p 91 for ship's mates you put that one of each can be taken per pirate captain but shouldn't be one per pirate lord or captain?

  3. These books are seriously gorgeous, excellent work. Do you ever print them? They're begging to be made into hard back books, I'd love to be able to buy these in the flesh...

    1. Thanks! Quite a few people have had them printed actually, there are companies that can do that for you relatively cheap. Though bear in mind that since the books gets updated every now and then, holding of printing them can be good idea until they reach more of a finalized state. Though that's entirely up to you.

    1. Thanks, I had some extra time to polish it while waiting for my co-author to finish his parts this time around. You can expect all books to more or less reach the same level of detail, though the graphics and artwork might vary a bit.

    1. Naval Bombardment is going to be nerfed to once per game for balance purposes.
      Fixed the turtigon.
Boarding pikes are available on Sea Serpent Riders, but I guess I can add that in for the pirate crew as well.

  7. Looks good, noticed that the Sorcerer is listed at T3 in the description earlier and then at T4 in the list though.

  8. Hey so I've looked a bit and may just be being oblivious but where is the sea creature rule and what does it do?

    1. The Sea Creature rule can be found in the main rulebook, it means you cannot march on land, but you treat water features like open terrain.

    2. Thank you, I only have the island of blood rulebook and it doesn't mention the rule so thank you very much

  9. I just found out about "Pirates of Sartosa" from the Warhammer forum at The Piazza, but I can't get the Google download to work.

It looks like they have deleted your download or changed the URL.

Please would you look into this when you can, and get it back online.

    Thanks in advance.
