Downloaded right now and it turns out it's version 1.22. What were the changes?
ReplyDeleteOnly some very small bug fixes, they are already in the patch notes above.
DeleteGreat job with the army overall. Feels a little odd having access to handguns. I dunno, I guess it's just years of the lore forbidding it (past 3rd edition I think).
ReplyDeleteGunpowder was never actually forbidden as such, they just stopped mentioning it after 3rd ed ;)
DeleteThat said, no knight would of course use it, hence only the Brigands can choose to do so.

ReplyDeleteThere seems to be some discrepancy with the lore presented throughout here. Sometimes you use more the more "contemporary" view of Bretonnian social mobility, that is to say, none, and other times you have sections taken from older lore where peasantry could become knights if they completed an errantry task, which are pretty much fully contradictory to each other.
ReplyDeleteI really like what you've done so far. I have just a few comments. First, with 9th ed adding impact hits to all cavalry, and the lance adding +2 initiative, bretonnian knights in the lance formation may have become too powerful. A typical unit of 9 knights has the potential of inflicting 21 wounds on the charge. Maybe consider dropping the lance formation granting devastating charge and changing it to +1 initiative? Second, I would suggest that Bretonnian players should be required to choose between praying for the blessing of the lady or taking first turn. I think this helps balance it and makes the player have to consider which is option is of greater benefit. I would also like to strongly suggest re-including most of the heirlooms of bretonnia from the 6th ed army book, especially the armor and weapons.
ReplyDeletejust wondered about the wording of the lance formation. when it says first 3 ranks fight, is that including the front rank? That probably semms like a daft question bu I only ask cos of how they used to play. so basically would 7 (+1 supporting attack) or 9 (+1 supporting attack) get to fight? the front three, then the 2 from each rank after the first?
