Chaos Dwarf update out now!

This update changes the following, and updates the book to 9th ed:

  • Resolute removed.
  • Shieldwall added.
  • Relentless allow marching 3xM.
  • Acolytes gain magical attacks.
  • You may not have more Infernal Guard units than you have units of Chaos Dwarf Warriors.
  • Infernal Guard may have great weapons.
  • Tau'ruks have A4.
  • Re-added Blood of Hashut, Naptha Bombs and Dark-forged weapons to Daemonsmiths.
  • Devastators may take Bazukas/Inferno Guns.
  • Spear Chuckas have slipshod rule.
  • Black Hammer of Hashut removed from Magic Items, only Zhatan may use it.
  • Plenty of new fluff blurbs and a short story.
  • Improved quality pictures from Tamurkhan.

  1. There are a few bugs:
-The Blood of Hashut describes wounding someone wearing heavy armor with a shield on a 4+ when it is 3+ now.
-Since 2+ saves against flaming attacks are now represented by Immunity (Flaming Attacks) you should make Blackshard armor reduce the strength of Flaming Attacks without a physical component by 1.
-The many greenskin units are listed as having Animosity instead of Hobgoblin Animosity.
-Choppas should be replaced with Strength Bonus (1).
-The Fear Elves special rule of Goblin slaves is not explained.
-The Furnace of Hashut upgrade should have the damage the Kollossus inflicts on itself Ignore Armor Saves since the flames bypass the armor due to being inside it.
-RAW the Blazing Body special rule inflicts a S4 hit on EVERY model on the field.
-The Hellshard Amulet fluff description says "The dark product of Drazhoath's own labours in diabolic crafts in ans the icy hate of his malice is caught and". The in ans doesn't make any sense.
-The Obsidian Blade has Armor Piercing (-2) instead of Armor Piercing (2).
-The Sorcerer Prophet says that it can be equipped with Blood of Hashut twice.
-I still think that Overlords and Despots should be able to exchange their Blackshard Armor for Frenzy and a Mark of Hashut.

Otherwise, it's a great update. I hope that Sega decides to hire you on as a consultant for Total War: Warhammer if they ever decide to expand the factions that are re-skins of the Empire and expand the map to factions without any crunch.

      - It does not really fit with they background, the Berzerkers are a warrior cult, not leaders.

Thanks! One could always hope, would be a pretty fun gig :)

    2. The Greenskin units having regular animosity still isn't fixed. To clarify, they have animosity in the pages where their fluff and special rules are explained.

    3. Also, Orc Slaves and Black Orcs still have Choppas rather than Strength Bonus (1) in the unit costs/sizes section.

    4. I'll admit, I still think that Blackshard Armor should be heavy armor with Granite Armor being Full Plate Armor since Infernal Guard do not seem to be any better armored than Hammerers and Longbeards. Lastly, the crew of various war machines are equipped with heavy armor despite the models making it look like they aren't wearing any armor. They should have no armor for every war machine except the hellcannon where the crew would wear medium armor.

  2. Hows does Immunity (Flaming Attacks) benefit infantry when it normally doesn't effect them unless they have the flammable special rule?

    1. Specifically the Zealot Berzerker.

    2. The intention any attack that is just fire and nothing else like the Lore of Fire, dragon breath, Naphtha bombs and fire throwers will never harm something with Immunity (Flaming Attacks). Granted, ambiguities with the rules will make it arguable which attacks don't have any physical component.

    3. I have clarified what attacks are non-physical now.

    4. Remember to do so for the Lore of Fire and every other army book.

    5. I just wanted to say I'd be careful with the "non-physical" addition here... While it clarifies things in this case, it can very easily start a lot of confusion in other areas later... It can also force a going through of all army books again for clarification purposes, and would be something you would always be forced to keep in tha back of your mind when dealing with fire related damage later...

  7. Hi, how is it when Devastatators shoot?
Do you calculate W3 times the number of units in the regiment like the Legion of Azgorh? So one unit out of 20 chaos dwarves = 20 x D3?
Or do only the front 2 rows count like with crossbows or muskets?
