Merry Nippon news everyone!

Just a small announcement that I intend to push forward the intended release of "original" Nippon. I feel that the book at the moment feels unfinished, seeing as I both intend to rewrite large portions of the fluff as well as redo most of their bestiary, so I really want to finish that up before working on the other releases (after finishing up Special Characters, which will be out soon).

As such, the new Nippon book will feature:
- New history of Nippon
- New Nippon Clans
- New geography section
- Removal of all clan-specific L5R units and Clan Mon
- Each of the new clans will have different bonuses that affects their style of play
- Bringing back Sumo Warriors, Kabuki Dolls, Red Devils and Ronin
- Addition of Wako Pirates, Yabusame, and Battle Maidens (not the L5R version)
- Removal of L5R special characters
- Addition of new special characters, as well as bringing back the Red Ronin

As a whole, the new version will probably be a bit shorter in the fluff department. The clans won't be as detailed as they currently are, Nippon's history will be shorter, and the geography section for the different cities will be trimmed down. That said, it should still be about the same length as any of the official army books. Likewise, Cathay will also get a rather large revision on the fluff department to make sure the two are consistent with each other. Hopefully I can get through rewriting these things without too much hassle in January.

Classic Regiments of Renown update out now

Very small update, only fixes a layout bug where Ulthor's Dwarfs spill into the For Hire sections. Should be all good now.

Regiments of Renown update out now!

Well this was long overdue, but we have finally finished the update at http://dogsofwaronline.com. While still being black and white like the Dogs of War book, this includes updated rules and fixes for the Regiments of Renown released by GW between 1998-2005. Compared to the older release, units are now marked with troop types, and have regained some of their special rules from 5th ed with an overall refurnished layout. Though no real major changes unlike the Dogs of War book, this new version should clear some things up and make it a lot easier to include Regiments of Renown in both your Dogs of War army and as units for hire in other armies.

Details on possible Nippon update

As you know, the current Nippon book is pretty much just the Legends of Five Rings in Warhammer, and while the background is certainly great and fits the fantasy setting, it doesn't exactly feel like it's at its own in the Warhammer world. As such, I will probably redo the book (again) some time in the future (maybe a year or two) and give them their own history and Clans based on the real clans of the Sengoku period. This of course means that the list would change quite a bit, currently looking like this, essentially a mix of the new and old list:

Lords:
Daimyo
High Shugenja

Heroes:
Taisho
Shinobi
Shugenja
Hatamoto

Mounts:
Warhorse
Kirin

Core:
Samurai Warriors
Samurai Cavalry
Yari Ashigaru
Bow Ashigaru
Matchlock Ashigaru

Special:
Sumo Warriors
Kabuki Dolls
Ninja
Oni
Yabusame
Wako Pirates
Battle Maidens
Red Devils
Tengu
Warrior Monks

Rare:
Mangonel
Flaming Arrow
Ronin
Kitsune
Kirin Cavalry
Shrine of the Kami

So while you certainly shouldn't expect any of this any time soon as there are plenty of other lists that needs proper updates, feel free to use this post to come up with ideas and suggestions.

Announcing: Warhammer Expansion - Special Characters!

After reading through the old "Champions of Chaos" booklet, I thought to myself "man, why aren't these in the new rulebooks?". Looking through the old 4th and 5th ed army books showed a whole bunch of special characters that have been put on the bench for years now, which is a damn shame. As such, I've decided to compile these old special characters into one booklet with updated rules for 8th edition, giving you folks who still have models for them the chance to use them in your games. Or at the very least read their fluff and look at pretty pictures ;)

Version 1.0 will likely only contain those characters no longer available in the new books - like prince Imrik, Zacharias the Everliving, and Crom the Conqueror - but I might also include the new special characters from the current books as well in a later version.

Feel free to throw in any characters you would like to see that I might otherwise miss (preferably with a source and artwork if you can find it), be they from White Dwarf, Storm of Chaos or any other GW publication. - Shinobi now have S4 and T4.
- Ashigaru Arquebusiers costs 8 pts/per model
- Various small bug fixes

Development Update: Sartosa

Been silent for the last two weeks since I haven't finished anything new as of yet, but I have been working on some stuff at least!

The Sartosa list is well under development at this point, with most of the bestiary done (which will then be reviewed with my co-author, Stefan Wolf). The list in it's current state looks the following:

Pirate Crew (basic troops, HW, pistols)
- Deck Hand
Deck Gunners (handguns)

Harpooneers (skirmish, javelins)
- Leviathan Slayer

Special:
Ship's Mates (elite crew, stubborn if joined by captain)
- Boatswain
Swivel Gun (S6, range 36", similar to Jezzails)
Deck Cannon Cannon (normal cannon, with weapon upgrades like chain-shot)
Orc Freebootaz (Orc pirates, what else?)
- Loota Boss
Wokou Raiders (cathayan candles)
- Shanghai'er
Dwarf Sea Dogs (slayer pirates)
- Sea Rover
Norse Raiders (frenzy, same as DoW book)
- Helmsman
Ghost Pirates
- Cursed One

Rare:
Gatormen (MI, GW)
- Crush-snapper
Sea Serpent Riders (MC, poison)

Fimir background removed

After some discussion with the original writer of Warpstone Magazine's Fimir article, I have decided to remove the current Fimir background from the book. Instead, the background will be rewritten to something more in line with 8th edition.

Note that this a project rather far down the line, probably some time next year, as there are other books that need a lot more attention rules-wise. The Fimir rules are still up and can be downloaded if you intend to play the army, but if you want to read about their history and society until then, you will have to get Warpstone Magazine #25.

Warhammer: Nippon - proper 8th edition update out now!

Well, that went quicker than expected, finished with the large update, and it's not even halfway through October yet! This is the first (and possible only) book completely in colour. It's 10 pages shorter than the last version since I've done away with the insanely long timeline. I've updated all the background, magic items, units, army list - well, pretty much everything. I have not incorporated every bit of fluff there was on the subject, because that would be mean the book would be over 1000 pages long, which is just not feasible when trying to use it for games. As such, only what I consider essential information (about 50 pages) is in there.

The list as a whole looks very different, maybe to the point where some might be disappointed. The entire special section is new, and there are large changes to both core and rare as well.
The book as a whole has been given a lot more emphasis on its source material, Legend of the Five Rings, and as such, each Greater Clan now have their own unique unit, and you can buy Clan Mon to your characters which gives them a special ability and influences how you build your army to a small degree.

A summary of what has been added, removed and replaced:

Death before Dishonour - new army special rule
Hatamoto -> hero character, BSB
Ashigaru -> 3 different unit choices
Peasant Doshin - removed
The Damned -> replaces Sumo Warriors
Doji's Fan - elite horse archers
Mirumoto Mountaineers - samurai scouts
Lion's Pride -> replaces Hatamoto
Yoritomo Marines - ambushing samurai
Legion of Flame - samurai with ward save, improves in large numbers
Scorpion Claws -> replaces Kabuki Dolls
Battle Maidens -> replaces Red Devils
Ninja -> moved to rare, have gotten a stat boost, can now Infiltrate
Shinobi -> replaces Shadow Eye
Shrine of the Kami -> completely new Blessing effects
Flaming Arrow - Cannon/Bolt Thrower
Mangonel - stone thrower
Oni -> moved to rare
Kitsune -> can be taken in units, no longer casts bound spells
Thunder Dragon  - removed
Ronin - removed
Hida Kisada - new SC
Doji Hoturi - new SC
Togashi Mitsu - new SC
Akodo Setai -> new SC, replaces the Red Ronin
Yoritomo Kumiko - new SC
Isawa Ochiai -> new SC, replaces Agasha Chieh
Shosuro Nodage - new SC
Otaku Komoko -> new SC, replaces Utaku Yu-Pan

Well, that should be it, I think. Some sacrifices had to be made to ensure that all units still fill their own role to avoid overlap (had 11 special units for a while there). Hopefully you'll like it, though I'm sure it's not to everyone's tastes.

I probably won't be out with any new rules before November (unless Regiments of Renown are finished by then), but sometime next month you should see the release of either Pirates of Sartosa or Cathay.

Edit: uploaded a new version which fixes a small bug (as always), rewrites part of the Warrior Monk background, and gives Samurai Cavalry their own page.

New Kislev update out now!

This one takes care of some bugs (surprisingly few so far!), adds a Summary page, a proper table of contents, and lowers the file size to a more manageable 80MB. You won't believe how damn long it took just to get the file size down from 112MB! In the end I had to remove the parchment background from the army list section and switch to a simple red background just to trim it down, but it still looks pretty decent. The book is now up on Issuu as well, had to scale down the DPI to 300 though, but there shouldn't be much of a noticeable difference.

Anyway, this will hopefully be the last Kislev update in a long while (unless some major bug hops up), giving me time to work on Nippon! I'm aiming for a late October release, as I also need to do some actual studying (college isn't a complete breeze after all), nurse future hangovers, and catch up on gaming season 2012. Not sure if I will be able to finish it before November, but I'll try my best!

URAAA! Warhammer: Kislev Proper 8th ed update out now!

Finally! It took me all night (hence I am suffering from some really strong sleep fatigue right now, fun stuff), but I got it done! Well, apart from the reference sheet, which will be finished soon, currently trying to find the best way of making it (Word clearly isn't the best option).

Anyway, the Kislev book now sits on 131 pages, only beaten by Bretonnia in length. All in all, there are 2 new special characters, 3 new special units, and 2 new rare units, a new magic lore, balance tweaks, bug fixes and of course the whole thing is in colour.

Let me know of any oversights that are likely to have turned up due to the major reformatting and enjoy! I'll be getting myself some very well needed hours of sleep, followed by cake to celebrate!

Note: The book is currently only up on Scribd, as the file size was more than Issuu would allow (112MB)! I will work on making it into a smaller file size to the next update which will include the reference sheet.

Army books removed from 4shared

Never fear, I'm just sorting out the outdated stuff. Seeing as I haven't updated the 4shared versions since about 2010, I've decided to remove them. Not much point in people downloading unbalanced rules with lots of bugs in them really!
They are still up on Scribd and Issuu as normal.

On to more interesting news, I've finished Kislev's background formatting, leaving only the Lore of the Hags (been stuck in this one for weeks!) and the actual army list formatting. This means I should be able to release the finished update either later tonight (7 hours from now, tops) or sometime tomorrow, uraaa!

Updates for Classic RoR and Knightly Orders out now!

Sorry, no Kislev update just yet (a weekend dedicated to partying and ensuing hangover ain't great for creative energy! Or any energy at all really..), but I've worked on two smaller updates tonight at least. The first one fixes a small issue with the Goblin Chariots and gives a smaller vanguard rule to the Mother Crushers, and the second one adds options to take magical standards as upgrades for Knights Panther and Knights of the White Wolf. Unfortunately I couldn't find anything on High Helms in Shadows over Bögenhafen, so they have been left out for now.

Anyway, I think I should be able to finish the Kislev update sometime later this week, hopefully by Friday or Saturday.

New blog layout (well, obviously)!

As you can see I've done some changes to the blog, as I felt the older one had played it's part by now. This includes a new banner header, a new background, and maybe most interesting of all, image links to the books at the top and bottom of the page. Many thanks to Franz Sigmar (site admin of the Fantasy Battle Reporter) for helping me with the coding!

Warhammer Expansion: Empire Knightly Orders out now!

Finally finished with version 1.0! 40 pages totalling 24 Empire Knightly Orders with their own rules and equipment to give you Empire players some flavour to choose from!

Enjoy, hopefully this will tide you over until the release of Kislev!

New Araby update out now!

And yet *another* Araby has been uploaded. This takes care of some more issues with statlines in the army list and reference section, adds a bunch of new artwork and a little bit of fluff. Finally found a decent pic for the Mamelukes too, been looking for that for ages! Wizards also have access to the Lore of Shadow, and the Hashishin and Al Thair now have a 4+ ward save to be more in line with Skaven Assassins, both points and rules-wise.

The book is starting to look really pretty now I must say, and hopefully this will be the last update in quite a while as well, I do have other books to work on!

On a sidenote, I've also added a predicted release order for new books and major updates to the left of the site. This way, you can easily keep track of when each book will get the spotlight. Minor updates will still be released when needed, as those can be done very quickly.
Do note that this is only a predicted schedule, and can be subject to change at any point.

Annoucing: Gnoblar Hordes!

"Oh no, I'm never gonna get that Nippon update, am I?" No worries, this will be a minor project down the line. Feels like I'm always working a large book update at the same time as a smaller one nowadays, heh.

Anyway, in White Dwarf 310 that I originally purchased to get the Empire Knightly Orders article, I also happened to find the Gnoblar Hordes list. Only having seen the actual rules part for them online, I wasn't too interested in them without any fluff. However, apart from the actual army list, there was actually a whole bunch of background on Gnoblar Society and descriptions for each troop type, including artwork! So what the heck, I thought, I'll make a smaller army book for the little critters as well! I'll probably start working on it after Pirates of Sartosa, so there will be a while until these guys see the spotlight though!
And of course, all original credits to Kevin Coleman, who wrote the list to begin with.

An update on the Kislev update

In case you were wondering when the next book will be out, I'm currently finished with Kislev's bestiary and magic items, leaving the background formatting and the actual army list to go. I should hopefully have it finished during next week, giving me the opportunity to work on Nippon.

Regarding the Knightly Orders, I've finally gotten all the material I need, but of course then my scanner decided it was a good time to perform seppuku on itself (not that I mind that much, the thing was ancient), meaning I'll have to buy a new one. Only a minor setback though, I should be up and running by tomorrow again! If all goes as planned, I'll have this book out this week as well.

Sneak Peak: New cover art for Cathay and Nippon

A few of the book covers was criticised a bit for being well, not that good, quite simply. Not wanting to disappoint, I decided to do something about it and switch covers for the upcoming 8th ed updates. Also first time playing around with masking in photoshop, as can be seen on the Cathay Warlord's hand.
I also want to give you a heads-up on the Nippon book - it's going to look a lot different. Several units are being removed, and nothing less than 9 new units are being added, as well as 8 new special characters, their own Lore and Clan Mon, and nearly every unit will have new special rules. On top of that, nearly all background fluff is being replaced, and the 19-page timeline will likely be removed entirely.

Anyway, what do you think of the new covers, yay or nay? Hopefully yay, 'cause I don't want to have to change them again :p

Another Araby update out now!

After some feedback on some more bugs, I've patched the Araby book again. Also changed some points costs around, Mujahedin now costs 11 pts, Bladedancers cost 60 pts and carpet riders cost 18 pts.

Also did some layout changes, primarily in the army list and added some new artwork.

Araby Proper 8th ed update out now!

So what I've decided to become a standard is my books from now on - colour - will of course appear in the Araby book as well, so here you have it - the full colour version (well, almost)!

It also fixes some minor bugs and spelling errors and smaller layout changes, as well as adding some new fluff.

Enjoy!

New update for Classic RoR's out now!

Another update that fixes some more bugs, adds some new artwork and rules, and above all: makes it full colour (apart from some of the illustrations). Looks a little nicer now, all in all!

Tuesday, 11 September 2012

New update for Cult of Ulric out now!

This one fixes a bunch of statline issues in the bestiary and army list, adds the white wolf cloak as equipment, gives Crush the Weak a more universal army role, and adds bestiary entries for the Grand Masters of the White Wolves and Knights Panther.

Arrr! Who likes Pirates?!

Something I have been "thinkering" (that is, been thinking more about that actually working on) with for a while are the Pirates of Sartosa. Everybody loves pirates, right? So while I initially wasn't going to do it since they really aren't much of an army, I decided that in the light of these Expansions I've been working on, a smaller book for Sartosa should be entirely feasible.

As such, I would like to (un)officially announce Warhammer: Pirates of Sartosa! I might even throw in Zombie Pirates as an extra addendum ;)

Oh, and ARRR!

Saturday, 8 September 2012

Announcing: Empire Knightly Orders!

Another mini-expansion coming out soon!
"Where's the damn Nippon/Norse/Ind update!" you might say, and they are on the way, but I'd like to deal with some minor stuff first to get into the groove, so to speak.
This expansion will be about - you guessed it - all the various Empire Knightly Orders mentioned in the fluff, that actually had different rules back in Citadel Journal 45. This means there will be some repetition in the form of Reiksguard, Knights Panther and so on, but they will also get expanded fluff compared to other versions and will, above all, be found in one place for easy access.
This should be a really short project, you can probably expect a release within a week or two.

Updates for Cult of Ulric and Classic RoR's out now!

These updates fixes some points values and some misses in the army list section of the Cult of Ulric list, as well as a number of balance and rules changes and bug fixes in the Classic RoR list.

Monday, 3 September 2012

Warhammer: Cult of Ulric out now!

A bit of a surprise release here! Had some time off to work on it (temporarily going mute from a cold can do that!), so I managed to finish the whole thing! This is an expansion to the Empire list rather than a full book in its own right, so you will need a copy of Warhammer: The Empire to use its full content, but you can play it as a stand alone list as well if you want. Oh, and it's in colour too! First time experimenting with it, which might be a feature in future updates of the other books.

Enjoy!

Classic Regiments of Renown upate out now!

As per usual, first bug fixes are in. Only one so far though! The Strength on the Mountain Boyz have been brought down to a normal 3 from their insane 5 (copy/paste error), and I've also included extra fluff for Ulther's Dragon Company from Stone and Steel.

The Warhammer Expansion: Classic Regiments of Renown out now!

While I've been nursing my finally-passing cold, I've fortunately still managed to get some work done on the rules. And with that, I present to you for the first time since what, 1989, a complete 8th ed update for these almost forgotten Regiments of Renown. A few have purposely been omitted since they either don't fit with the current fluff (such as the half-Orcs) or are already part of the current army books (Golgfag, Grom, Mengil, Lothern Sea Guard).
The units within have been given new artwork and updated equipment more fitting to the current edition. The Saurus for instance do not have bows (hard to hit anything with BS0!) and the Wood Elves do not have shields, as would be most unfitting.

Anyway, enough dilly-dallying, here are the rules:

Upcoming stuff

So as you may have noticed there has been a slight lack of updates lately, which is mostly due to me actually not working much on the books at the moment. However, I'm glad to say that the RoR update is now well under way, and should be released reasonably soon.

But seeing as that might not seem like all that much fun, I would also like to announce the soon to be released Classic Regiments of Renown, which encompasses units all the way back from the 80's! These have been given a much needed makeover with up to date rules and art work, and will be released as a stand alone book that can be used with the Dogs of War book.

There will also be a larger update for Hobgoblins in the future, which will add some new units, background, and their own spell lore.

More to follow!

Warhammer - Dogs of War 4.1 out now!

Finally! We have managed to work out all the kinks for now, and are very proud to present the next update for the book.

For the most part, it has seen some toning down in power level with slightly more expensive troops and revised traits, and there has been a lot of streamlining to get more in line with 8th edition overall, including the army list format. But I'll let you have a look at the details yourself before complaining, I'm off to lunch!

New Bretonnia update out now!

All right, back from my vacation in Turkey and almost done with the Dogs of War update, so I've worked on a new update for the Bretonnia book. Mostly nerfs to spells and some abilities to tone down the power level where needed. Truffle Hounds now remain in play if they fail their charge as well.

Hit a small bump on the writing front, I've been working a little bit on both Kislev, Nippon and Chaos Dwarfs lately, but haven't made that much progress apart from adding a bunch of new units. A lot of formatting to do still, which will take quite some time.
Dogs of War will be released very soon, however!

News for upcoming Nippon update!

Don't get overexcited just yet; Kislev will get its due first, and Dogs of War should be released even before that. But, I figured I would give you some insight on what to expect.
First off, the timeline will be trimmed down considerably from the current insane 18 pages that it is now to about 4-6. The rest of the book will then follow suit with trimmed down magic items (sad, I know) and general layout changes.
All bestiary entries will be expanded upon with more fluff and some new rules and will no longer have a ton of white space on them, and each unit will hopefully have its own page in the end.
As for new units, there's a lot coming:

Damned Ones
Lion's Pride
Battle Maidens
Yoritomo Marines
Legion of Flame
Scorpion Claws
Doji's Fan
Miromoto Mountaineers
Sky Rocket

I won't reveal what all of these units are yet (mainly because I haven't fully decided upon all of them and haven't begun making any rules for them), but if you are familiar with the L5R universe you might recognize some of the names ;)
In short, there will be a specialized unit for each Greater Clan as well as a war machine for the army, which should help diversify the list even more than "just another Samurai list". On top of that, Nippon will finally get their own Lore, the Lore of the Kami, which is based around the elements of fire, air, earth and water. If that wasn't enough, they will also get Clan Mon, traits and upgrades for your characters which will greatly affect their role on the battlefield and allow you to really make an army after a Greater Clan of your choice.

So stay tuned for more on Nippon this summer!

Good news for Kingdoms of Ind!

Having found some great source material from old RPG books, I should now have a decent base as to develop the background for Warhammer's Kingdoms of Ind. In effect, this means that the complete version will be published with the next update, which should hopefully be this summer.

The next book on the table to receive an update is Kislev, followed by Norse.

Dogs of War should come somewhere in between, but since I am not working on that one alone, I cannot say for sure when it will be finished.

Chaos Dwarfs are slightly on hold at the moment, but should still see a release some time this summer.

Another Araby update out now!

So after some contemplation, I decided to make a couple of changes to the list (again). Genies can now act as individual units (you're welcome, Pumpavius!) and are ethereal , and thus replaces the Sandwraith, which is gone from the list.
Bladedancers have been moved back to Rare, and the Hashishin special choice has been replaced by the Mujahiden, skirmishing scouts armed with handguns. Hashishin are still part of the list, but only as a hero choice.

Complete 8th ed update for Araby out now!

While once again forsaking my much needed sleep, I've finished the real 8th ed update for Araby. It contains a new layout for the army list, a whole bunch of new artwork, revised rules, redone magic items, Lore Attribute and options to boost spells, as well as two new units, the deadly Dervishes (similar to Fanatics) and the Sandglass of Time (similar to the Casket of Souls).

Enjoy!

New Bretonnia update out now!

Another update for the Bretonnia book that increases the points cost of most infantry and the Trebuchet, trims down the magic items more, adds a new core choice and various other balance issues. Amalric of Gaudaron has been removed as he is not a classic special character who adds very little to he already existing ones. The Lore of the Lady can now increase the range of all spells like other new spell lores.

On the subject of Chaos Dwarfs, I am uncertain if I will have the time to finish it this month, as I have a lot of studying to do followed by a trip to Turkey, so it might have to be postponed until the middle of June.

Bretonnia update out now!

The first Bretonnia update is now online, fixing a myriad of bugs, from copy/paste errors to FAQ changes and points changes for some units.

Jasperre still needs a small update I just noticed, should be fixed by the end of next week.

Warhammer: Bretonnia (unofficial 8th ed) out now!

So after toiling away for nearly the entire day (almost 12 hours straight, back says ouch!), I've finally finished the Bretonnia book, my longest to date! Clocking in at nothing less than 197 pages, this tome contains pretty much everything there is to know on Bretonnians, with tons of fluff compiled from both 5th and 6th ed army books as well as Knights of the Grail from WFRP.

The list contains nothing less than 7 new units and the return of 12 classic special characters, a Lore of the Lady, and revised virtues, magic items and army list, fully updated to 8th edition!

Enjoy, I'll be getting myself a sandwich and a good night's sleep now...

Hobgoblin update out now!

A rather small update rules-wise. Waki'yas have gotten a buff with T5 and are lowered to 125 pts, and Dire Wolves and gotten more expensive at 45 pts.

Apart from that, I've changed the background to something more suitably greenskinnish, which also eliminates any "white-images-on-grey-background" that might have been. Grey text boxes have also been replaces with animal skins, and the blurry BSB square has been cleared up.

So for the most part, just graphical changes, but it looks a bit prettier now. Also updated the cover to 8th edition.

Details for upcoming "Mercenaries of Tilea"

I couldn't really help myself, so I've been scouring around the net for ideas as usual, and worked out the cover for the book as well. Note that this is only an expansion to the existing Dogs of War rules, and not a complete book in itself.

As mentioned in the previous post, Mercenaries of Tilea will focus exclusively on the land of Tilea and the local Mercs from that region. These units can be used with the existing Dogs of War rules, with your opponents permission as usual.

Some of the units in its current state:

Heroes:
Master Assassin (yeah, the stabbing kind)

Core:
Spear Militia (LA, spears, shields)
City Watch (LA, HW, shields)
Broken Lances (HA, GW, HW, Shields)
Condottieri (HA, lance, shield, mounted)
Verezzian Infantry (HA, shields, warhammers, bows)
Trantian Crossbowmen (crossbow, pavise)
Tobarian Marines (LA, pistol, HW)
Reman Legionnaires (LA, HW, shields, javelins)
Luccinian Pikemen (LA, pikes, shields)

Special:
Merchant Guard (HA, HW, pistols)
Renegade Knights (HA, shields, morning stars, mounted, barding)
Miraglianese Arquebusiers (LA, handguns, pavise)
Famiglia Ducale (FPA, lances, shields, mounted, barding)
Sartosan Pirates (pistols, handguns)
Pavonian Assassins (two hand weapons)

Rare:
Carroccio Standard (inspirational altar)
Ribault (organ gun)

More projects on the horizon!

While I'm working on the Bretonnian book (Chaos Dwarfs is on hold for now), I have also started working on the next update for Dogs of War which has been due for quite some time. This will see some changes in the magic items and Traits section, but also a new layout for the army list itself. Also been tinkering with the Halflings, Norse, and Kislev books. Halflings and Kislev will get some more fluff in the next update (just fleshing out some bestiary entries really), as well as a revised magic items section. Legacies of Kislev will be gone as well. The Norse will get a new hero choice called a Slaver, and the rules for the War Mammoth will change to those from Tamurkhan, as well as a magic item revision and more fluff for some units. These will be added at a later date. And there will also be some new books! 4 smaller projects are planned: - Mercenaries of Tilea: a source book on Tilea based on Spears of the Maiden which will add a bunch of additional mercenary units to the fold, like Assassins, Broken Lancers, Ribaults, Caroccios, light infantry with warhammers and longbows, you name it! Also included will be some fan-made regiments of Renown. - Classic Regiments of Renown: This will just be an extension to the already existing RoR book. It will include the classic RoR's from the 80's like the Mother Crushers, Knights of Origo, and many, many more! - Cult of Slaanesh: Kinky stuff! Will contain a ton of fluff on the cult and lure of Slaanesh itself, as well as a revised army list for 8th edition. - Cult of Ulric: A detailed description of the cult and the city of Middenheim where it resides, as well as a revised army list for 8th edition. A ton of stuff coming in the future, in short!

Halfling update out now! More Bretonnia news!

Another update for the furry feeted fellas! This one fixes a couple of statline errors, adds a little more background to the Halfling religion, and changes the layout quite a bit. No more white pictures on grey background, with a redone page border that doesn't intrude as much in the army list.
I have also changed the format of the army list to follow that of 8th edition, which should eliminate the weird text overlapping of the Enchanter entries.

In other news, I'm currently working a lot on the Bretonnia book, which should be the longest by far. Will even have to cut down on some of the fluff lest it be over 200 pages long! Some of you wanted more options for wizards, which you will get in the forms of priests/priestesses of Shallya. Also included will be Templar Crusaders, support characters that makes your knights even deadlier in combat. A couple of more units are in the works as well, a unit of Falconers that will act as cheap flyers (still working on the rules) and a Sacrosanct of the Lady, basically a mobile Grail Chapel, which can give the army some nifty boosts.

Note that none of these things are set in stone though and can (and likely will) change during the development phase.

Also, re-did the cover for 8th edition, should make it less confusing to know which edition it belongs to. Will do the same with the rest of my armies when I get around updating them.

Upcoming Project: Bretonnia!

"But... they are already an official army with rules!" some might say, which is of course absolutely correct. But seeing as they haven't had a rules update for nearly 10 years and do not appear to be getting one soon, I figured "what the heck, I might as well do it myself". Bretonnia just so happens to be the first Warhammer army I ever collected, so giving them some attention lies quite close to me.

This will just be a small side-project to be finished after Chaos Dwarfs. It will contain all the older units ofc, as well as a couple of new ones to give them more options in the field. Apart from that, the list will get a facelift rules-wise, as well as a ton of new background from "Knights of the Grail". Oh, and special characters are back by the dozen!

Special Characters:
Louen Leoncoeur
The Fay Enchantress
The Green Knight
Repanse de Lyoness
Baron Odo d’Outremer and Suliman the Saracen

Tristam le Troubadour and Jules le Jongleur
Reynard the Hunter
Jasperre le Beau - The Dragonslayer
Armand d’Aquitaine
Bohemond ‘Beastslayer’ - Duke of Bastonne
Sir Amalric of Gaudaron

Lords:
Bretonnian Lord
Prophetess of the Lady

Heroes:
Paladin
Damsel of the Lady

Warhammer Armies: Hobgoblins out now!

Now that I've finished my latest exam, I've had some free time to work on the Hobgoblin book, and lo and behold, it's even finished!

Warhammer Armies: Hobgoblins is my shortest book to date, only clocking in at 55 pages, but it does contain a complete Bestiary, background, army list, magic items and so on. Everything you could expect, in short.

With that done (apart from the usual well-needed patches), I will now start working on the Chaos Dwarf book, which might just see a release in April, depending on how much I need to paint to an upcoming tournament. Until then, enjoy!

Fimir update out now!

First Fimir update is now online. This one fixes a couple of WFRP remnants, general formatting errors and adds some rules clarifications. Nothing major, in short.

Kislev back on Scribd!

After being taken down some months ago for unknown reasons, I was able to re-upload Kislev to Scribd yesterday. Although the book has been available for download from Issuu since then, the ones who prefer Scribd's service instead can now find it there as well.

Download: http://www.scribd.com/doc/83334376/Warhammer-Armies-Kislev

As for the remaining books, Hobgoblins are up to 65 pages currently, and having sorted through the Chaos Dwarf material, that one will likely end up being over 130 pages long!

Warhammer Armies: Fimir out now!

So, this is a little embarrassing, but due to my gaming PC still being in the repair shop, I've been a little bored this last week (what do you mean I should be studying!?), and so I've been working on my books a lot. A lot.

And so, here's the Fimir book, completed in about 6 days. Of course I didn't write the whole thing myself, the first 70 pages are all from Warpstone Magazine's Fimir article, only needed to do some quick editing and a new layout there. Anyway, good night, and enjoy!

Guess I'll keep working on the Hobgoblins or Chaos Dwarfs tomorrow...

Update for Halflings out now!

Just a small one fixing a couple of spelling errors and getting some higher quality images for the book. I would also like to give special mention to Brenton Smith and fauthsie whose work in the book was previously missing from the credits. All taken care of now!

On the subject of Fimir, the book is coming along at a record speed pace, being almost 100 pages already. The bestiary is finished, the main background is almost complete, though the army list still needs to be made, and the magic items needs editing. Expect a release early March, though it might take a little longer depending on how soon my good computer will be back from the repair shop. Got to catch up on those video games!

Warhammer Armies: Halflings out now!

Finally finished! Man, thought I would be stuck translating Spanish background forever! Coming in at 80 pages total, this is definitely the most complete Halfling book to date. So now you all just need to let me know of all the obvious mistakes I have clearly overlooked, so I can start patching it up ASAP ;)

Now, I'm going to get myself some well-deserved sleep before working more on the Fimir book... which will likely be released in March btw. Until then, enjoy!

Details for upcoming Warhammer Armies: Fimir!

So after having spent most of yesterday scrounging the net for info on Fimir (not much else to do when it's -28C degrees cold outside anyway!) I think I have quite a decent base to work from. The list contains the classic Fimir units from 20+ years ago of course, as well as a couple of new ones and a lot of swamp dwelling mythological creatures from Celtic mythology to round out the force.
All in, the Fimir list will be based quite a bit around slow, heavy infantry with quite a few larger monsters. Sounds a bit like Warriors of Chaos, right? Well, the Fimir will feature a lot less armour and a lot more debilitating powers in form of magic, mist powers and using the terrain to their advantage. So WoC with more tactics, I suppose ;)

Current Bestiary:

Lords:
Meargh (wizard)
Fimm Warlord (fighter)
Fianna Mistmor (ogre)

Heroes:
Dirach (wizard)
Fimm Noble (fighter)
Fiana Flaithmor (ogre)

Core:
Fimm Warriors (2HW, GW)
- Fimm Fian
Shearl (spears, shields)
- Shearl Finn
Bog Swarms (swarms)
Moor Hounds (FC)
- Barghest
Boglars (marsh gnoblars)
- Sludgesucker

Special:
Fiana Fimm (ogres)
- Fimm Finmor
Marsh Reavers (MC, spear, shields)
- Fiarach
Fomorians ("small" mutated giants)
- Formor
Nuckelavee (centaur cavalry)
- Bog Knight
Fir Bolg (undead)
- Crypt Keeper
Fenbeast (as in Albion)
Swamp Daemons (scouts)
- Rotfiend (explodes on death)

Rare:
Daemonomaniac (daemonic giant Fimir)
Athach (3-armed giant, hurl rocks)
Eye Tyrant (hovering monster)
Eye Oculus of Balor (shrine type-thingy)

Update for Albion out now!

In lieu of the release of Storm of Magic and the upcoming Fimir, I've taken to making a small update for Albion. Nothing much, but I've updated the Fenbeast rules and given them some upgrade options, and the Fir Bolg unit has been taken out and been replaced by a new unit called Sidhe. The Fir Bolg will make an appearance in the Fimir book instead.

The updated version can be found on Issuu.com.

What's that in the mist? The Fimir!

Okay, so you know just how crazy I am by now, so it should come to no surprise that I have even more books planned in the future. The latest one to the batch will be (as you can probably guess from the title): the Fimir! With Warhammer Forge making some new models for them as well as the inclusion of them in Storm of Magic, now would be a good time for the one-eyed monsters to reappear as their own army!

I have found a ton of background info for them which should make this a rather quick and simple project seeing as I won't have to fill it out much myself other than making the actual rules. I will post army list details once I am done scrounging the internet for fluff, images and ideas.

As for other armies, I have acquired a copy of Tamurkhan now, so I have all the things needed to make the Chaos Dwarf book as well, but I think I'll save that one for last.

On the subject of Halflings, I've finished the army list for them, and I'm now working on clearing up the magic items. The book might be slightly delayed due to studies, but I am gonna try to squeeze it out before the end of the month at least.

Alliance & Alignment and Painting Threads are up!

I've taken the liberty of adding a small chart for Alliance and Alignment for my army books as per popular request, so you won't have to worry about which armies can ally each other.

I also added two of my painting threads for Dogs of War and Araby in case anyone is interested or is looking for some inspiration. I will add Dark Elves in the near future as well.

Are there any other things you would like to see added, let me know in the comments section below.

Halfling news update

Happy news to you furry feet lovers! The Halfling book is now proceeding at good speed, and should be finished in late January/early February. I'm finished with the bestiary and currently working on the army list itself. Then I only need to finish editing the background sections and the magic items which shouldn't be too much of a problem, so expect some new rules in 3-4 weeks!
