Page under construction!

As you can see, the blog menu looks a bit different than usual. This is because I'm trying to implement the much needed dropdown menu with multiple submenus in order to make everything fit without being too cluttered. So far, I've managed to get the code to funktion, but there's still quite a lot of work that's needed before it's finished, so this is just a heads up that some links to certain downloads will be unavailable for the time being. I hope to have everything up and running again by tomorrow.

Edit: all the updated links are now up again. I've still to find a way to center both the menu and the submenu, but I have a friend who can hopefully look into it soon. Until then, you will find that the menu should now be a lot more easily navigable to find the book you want.

Edit 2: Menu is now in line with the rest of the website, so it looks like the old menu. Enjoy the new and improved browsing!

  1. I think that every army should have access to Light and Medium armor in some form, even if Medium is only available to the most elite members. Even if the army does not have the means to produce bits or plate or mail, there are many creatures with the Natural Armor (5+) special rule so their skins could be worn as a slightly unwieldy substitute. The two I'm thinking of while I type this are Albion and the Amazons, who can wear Mastodon skales and Reptile scales respectively. The Tomb Kings are iffy since that probably isn't represented by the models.

  2. Well that's further then I got.
    Best wishes, El Komodos Drago.
P.S. Maybe you should keep the ravening hoards available, some people (including me) prefer them for actual playing.

  3. New layout is great, so much easier to navigate now.

  4. Seems like the 9th edition Tomb Kings 'button' isn't active. Doesn't seem to do anything, were as all of the others work as expected. Just thought you should know; might be an issue on my end mind you.

    1. Yeah, hovering over Tomb Kings shows the blog 'page under construction' html, rather than the drive.google link, so it just stays on the same page when you click it.

    2. It's because the 9th ed book is not out yet, I just finished the button when I made the layout so it would be quick to add.

    3. Ah, my mistake then, thanks for clarifying

    1. The Tomb Kings book is underway, but I'm also working on the 8th ed books for High Elves, Dark Elves and Wood Elves. I do expect the TK update to be out this week.

  6. Just wanted to report some errors in the current books
    - In Albion army book there is problem of artwork in page 17 (both 8th and 9th ed).
    - The Amazon army book have an small error in page 14 (THE FOUNTAIN OFYOUTH) (both 8th and 9th ed)
    - In Nippon army book, the empress of Nippon's name was Himiko but she still called Jingu in some part (in the timeline page 32 year 1745, in army list page 91 and in summary page 102)

  7. Hey, great work on the books! Loving 9th Ed so far! :)
Was just reading about the proposed changes to Characters mounted on Monsters. And in the new rule book it says they are now counted as Monstrous Cavalry. I'd like to clarify how this works with a few questions:
    - If the whole model is now treated as MC, does the monster lose it's Stomp and gain Impact Hits (1)? (MC don't have stomp)
    - It seems like the intention is that the mount now can't die before the character. I believe there is a passage in the rule book that states we will no longer need replacement non-mounted characters for when their mount dies? How does this work then? Do the mount and model share wounds? Can the character be targetted by a giant's "pick up and.." attack? Conversely, can a giant "thump with club" against a mount". Don't get me wrong, I like the idea of buffing a mounted character but I'm a bit unsure how this concept would work in weird scenarios like this?
    - It states in the rule book that mount and character can combine armour saves and use the highest ward save for both mount and character? If, for example, an Orc Warlord (with heavy armour and a Amulet of preservation (4+ armour save, 4+ ward save) is mounted on a Wyvern (4+ Scaly skin), would the model now collectively have a 1+ armour save and a 5+ ward save?
    - Weird scenarios aside (as mentioned in first bullet point) do mount and character now share wounds? I.e. Orc plus wyvern now have 8 wounds total and are only removed when they've sustained 8 wounds?

One last thing, regeneration on monsters seems a little underwhelming now. I.e. they take enough wounds to die outright and... that's it. They die. I know things like the hellpit abomination isnt exactly underpowered but it certainly can't afford to charge in like it used to and rely on regen. Elite troops can take it out pretty easily now. Trolls and other units with regen seem fine as they dont suffer so badly unless all wiped out.

    1. - Good point, will need to clarify that. Monsters will not lose stomp or gain impact hits.
      - Yes, mount and rider shares wounds like MC. A Giant can only "pick up" when fighting "small things", so riders can never be picked up. Thump with club is resolved against the model as a whole, just like MC.
      - Correct. This is the one thing I'm still working on to balance out correctly so you don't have to deal with near-unkillable lords.
      - They share them like MC, ie, you use the high result, so an Orc on a wyvern have 5 wounds with T5 and the save of the rider.

Regarding regen, it's important to remember that units do not fight in two ranks now, so the odds of a monster getting killed on the charge is pretty low unless it's badly hurt already. They are meant to be used more for support rather than straight on chargers, at least not against elite infantry (which in the case of armies with war machines are going to be your monster killers anyway).

  8. So this might sound silly, but as someone who just discovered this site how do we download these books? I apologize if there is an FAQ I missed somewhere.

    1. Open them as normal and then Ctrl+S?

    2. Like Fenlander said, just download them like any normal pdf file. There's also a download button marked by an arrow in the top-right corner when you open the document.

  9. I read all of your books. So compare them with official books. Yours are better. But why did you leave Largest of Monsters, Colossal Beast, Incarnate Elemetnal, Chomp And Tail Attacks and Desert Strider Special Rules out?

    1. Those are all rules that were in Forge World's books and Storm of Magic, I've streamlined a lot of creatures to make them more on par with the Warhammer army books rather than being bogged down with too many special rules.

  10. Can you add more option for Preyton and Cockatrice in Beastmen Army book like in Monstrous Arcanum and Storm of Magic?

    1. And opptions for Brood Horror in Skaven Army Book too.

    2. Or you can just add all these Option Rules as thier Default Special Rules.

    3. I'll see about possibly adding some of those options down the line. However, the other beastmen monsters do not have any upgrade options, and I would prefer the units to be on par with eachother.

    1. Exalted Vermin Lord for Skavens, Death Rocket Laucher and Earthshaker Canon/Mortar for Chaos Dwarfs plz :))))))

    2. Bale Taurus are just a slightly bigger version of the Great Taurus, it's nothing that I think needs to be added. Mummies no longer exist as their own unit, they are either Tomb Kings/Princes or Tomb Guard now.

Death Rocket and Earthshakers are already in their books in the form of Deathshrieker Rockers and Dreadquake Mortars, no need to add a near-identical unit with a different name.

    3. What about Exalted Vermin Lord for Skaven? Btw could you tell me the difference between Exalted Vermin Lord and the other Vermin Lords?

      Delete
    4. Very minor differences, the Exalted Vermin Lord has better stats and a better weapon, but other than they are pretty much the same. No need to include yet another version of them.

  12. Do you by chance have any battle scribe files made for the unofficial armies (namely the Norse)

    1. I'm afraid not, the old battlescribe files were outdated anyway and was not continually updated with new releases.
