Warhammer Araby 9th Ed 1.2 out now!

Updated to 1.21:
  • Roc cannot pick up Flyers or Ethereal models. Models can avoid being picked up by passing an Initiative test.
  • Removed Slaver from Sindibadu.
  • Fixed bug where Genie Binding was called Enslaved.

This update changes the following:

  • Fixed bug with Blademistress attacks.
  • Pegasus Guard may not take lances. Radiant Aura is one use only per model.
  • Genies may be resummoned if slain, the sorcerer suffers -1 to the leadership test to do so each time, 95 pts.
  • Sorcerer Lords may have 2 Genies.
  • At the beginning of the Araby player's turn, the Golden Magus may summon either a Djinn, Efreet or Marid to do his bidding following the normal rules for Genie Binding. This model acts like a normal Genie in all respects. He may have a maximum of 3 Genies summoned at any one time, and every summoned Genie must be of a different type.
  • Sorcerers may use lore of death, updated lore on Sorcerers about Necromancy not being outlawed in Araby (as stated in WFRP).
  • Clarified Stampede.
  • Drop Attacks automatically kills the dropped model. Is no longer a random model. Clarified how dropping it over another enemy unit works.
  • Fix bug with Salah ad-Din's Strength value.
  • Fixed bug with Alhazred not having an option to take Genies and missing Necronomicon in the army list.
  • Fixed some spelling/grammar issues.

  1. Nice to see you refining your army books. I have a question. What is the difference between a smaller list and an army book? You said for the Fimir and Pygmies that you would make a list rather than an army book. Does that mean there won't be a small lore section? It's understandable, since they haven't done much. Still, thanks for taking these very minor factions into consideration. Good luck on your work.

    1. An army book means they would have a main lore section divided into multiple chapters, yes. There would still be some lore, but only a few pages of it.

  2. Your dedication to this is great man, keep it up!! Also I love the lore on this book, if I were to choose I would join one of the dessert tribes of the araby :)

  3. Ah. Okay. Where would these smaller lists be located eventually? They don't merit an entire book, so where would they be put?

  5. To me the Warhammer Armies Project is the best thing that happened to wargaming in many years. Thank you so much for the awesome work! The next release that I really look forward to is the Champions of Chaos expansion. Do you have an approximate time when it will be released? Really looking forward to being able to mix chaos warriors, beastmen and deamons in one chaos army - just like in the good old days! Thanks agian!

    1. Glad you enjoy it!

Hard to say when it will be out; it all depends on how long all other book updates will take to finish; some will definitely go faster than others, but I would not be surprised if it takes a least a year if I manage two book updates per month.

  6. Say Mathias, I am curious about something. Do you think that if another fantasy franchise army was adapted to the Warhammer army system, that could make an acceptable crossover battle? The idea of Warhammer fighting WarCraft, Witcher, Elder Scrolls, Lord of the Rings, etc to be very interesting. I do know that Lord of the Rings has a tabletop game, and there is a homebrew game called Scrollhammer. What are you thoughts? Think one can adapt things like Warcraft and Witcher to the WarHammer system?

    1. Forgot to add Dragon Age to the mix. Do you think covering Magic systems and adapting it to Warhammer would even it out?

    2. It would not really work lore-wise, but I suppose that if someone wanted to, you could write rules for these universes that would make them playable in Warhammer. Do not really see much point to it though, it's not something I'm interested in.
