Warhammer Araby 9th Ed 1.22 out now!

This update changes the following:

  • New Special Character: Ottokar Mehmed Agha (lore written by Stefan Wolf)
  • Janissaries do not have shields by default, cost 6 pts. Can buy shield in addition to other equipment options.
  • Janissaries may wear light or medium armour, regardless of weapon options. Removed heavy armour, which is not that lore-friendly for Araby anyway.
  • Mamelukes may not wear heavy armour.
  • Emirs may not wear heavy armour.
  • Fixed bug with Sipahi, Desert Riders and Camel Rider champions not having 2A in the Army List and Summary.
  • Barding cost 1 pt/model for mamelukes, 3 pts for characters.

  1. Since Ottokar Mehmed Agha can wield a pistol, the generic Emir's and Sheikhs should have access to pistols as well. I also don't think that he should grant his unit the ability to move and fire with handguns, it breaks a basic rule of weapon usage that every unit has to follow.

    1. Will see about including pistols for them, historically the Janissaries were the first to use firearms in the Ottoman army (and pistols were not very popular for a long time).

They are only allowed to fire in one rank if they move, this was a common tactic historically. The first rank fire and advance, then the second rank move forward to fire while the second rank reloads. The First Division are the best of the best, don't see this as much of a stretch for them.

  2. Quick Question: Is there a difference between Snow Troll and Ice Troll If so, where would each go? I assume Snow Troll will stay in Norse and Ice Trolls in Warriors of Chaos? The fact that ice trolls are listed in Norsca, yet Snow trolls are so clearly listed and described in lore is a bit confusing. Thoughts?

    1. I think this is just GW and CA being inconsistent in their naming, they are most likely the same type of Troll physically.

  3. Probably. I sort of thought Snow Trolls are Trolls that live in cold environments, while Ice Trolls are Chaos variants.
