Warhammer Armies: Halflings out now!

Finally finished! Man, thought I would be stuck translating Spanish background forever! Coming in at 80 pages total, this is definitely the most complete Halfling book to date. So now you all just need to let me know of all the obvious mistakes I have clearly overlooked, so I can start patching it up ASAP ;)

Now, I'm going to get myself some well-deserved sleep before working more on the Fimir book... which will likely be released in March btw. Until then, enjoy!

    1. You would have to evaluate on that. Are you talking about Warhammer armies, or completely new armies for another game system and universe?

  5. Another fabulous army book... congratulations! I am loving what I have read so far and look forward to going through the rest of the book.

Where should we send you feedback on possible issues with the text? I had a small one: pg 37 under the "Battle Before Meal" table. The result for a roll of 2-3 should probably read "leadership test" instead of "psychology test". I think GW have been trying to keep the language consistent on that in 8e. In 7th, everything was "psychology", now everything is "leadership". That ties into the BSB rerolls and such. Just a small thought.

Again - wonderful book. Thank you!

    1. Thank you, you can send any feedback to my email (can be found on my profile) and I will look into it. Just posted an update to the Halfling book, but I'll keep the whole Leadership thing in mind to the next one :)

  6. Update ideas:I propose some new units for your army books.Just use them if you like them.(:
Fimir:Grendels(swamp dragons)fit perfectly with the fimir army
Ind:Disciple of Khali(posseced priest like units)like marauders in warhammer online
    Halfing:Minstrel(both musicians and wizards)
    Kislev:Hussar(cavalry commander)
    Amazons:Master of Eyes(master plumed archer)
    Kathay:Tae known(martial arts fighting unit)
Hobgoblins:Wolf Archer(like horse archer but uses hobgoblins major mount)
    Nippon:Kensai(swordsaint)
    Albion:Vates(prophet)
    Norse:Runescribe(wizard)
    Araby:Bombard(turkish based cannon)
    Chaos Dwarfs:Overseer/Overlord(wizard/general)

I think that an army which would fit perfectly warhammer universe is a wolfen army.Think about it.Warriors affected by the chaos moon. And warhammer army books have announce the existance of werewolves.
Comment if you like the wolfen idea or the update idea.If you like it M4cR1II3n I have some unit ideas for the wolfen armybook.

    1. Grendels? as in Beowulf, or something else entirely? I'm not too keen on including more Dragons unless necessary, there are enough armies that have them as it is.
Possessed Priests? Like the SC Malik the Blessed? They already have Tiger Cultists though...
I was thinking of having a Halfling bard, but he would be very similar to the Norse Skald, and they already have the Master Chef to fill a similar role.
Hussar is already a Champion in the Kislev army. The Marshal and the Boyar already fill the fighter positions.
Not sure an Archer Character would add much that that the fighter do not already...
Cathay already have a martial arts unit in the form of Celestial Dragon Monks.
Hobgoblins will have plenty of "Wolf Archers", it's kind of their theme ;)
Swordsaints are already in the Cathay list, normal Taisho and Daimyo are already good fighters.
Vates? How would he differ from a Druid/Truthsayer?
Runescribe? Like a Dwarf Runelord? Or someone who uses Runes to cast spells?
If I were to add another war machine to Araby, a Bombard would definitely be it. Maybe in the future.
Overlord and Overseers will be the fighters in the Chaos Dwarf army.I'm thinking of adding the Sorcerer Prophet in there as a mixed class.

I have no plans on making a Wolfen army I'm afraid, but I know of plenty of other people who have or are working on them, like this one: http://battlereporter.freeforums.org/werewolves-t3104.html

As for the overall update ideas, I don't think they are bad at all, but a lot of them seem rather redundant and wouldn't really add anything to the list that they cannot already do with the current choices. When I get around updating the books I will have a closer look at them though.

  8. Hi I really enjoy the halfling army book but every download that i get i am only able to see the right hand side of the "battle before meal" table.
is there somewhere i can find a copy of the table? or some trick to the formatting that i need to use?

  9. Too many cavalry type for represent a credible army. Why not one type of cavalry with upgrade?

    1. How are you supposed to upgrade ponies to hounds, rams or swans? Seeing as they have different backgrounds, stats and weapon options, this wouldn't really work. Also, they actually only have 3 cavalry units (with Swan Riders being flyers), which is the same as Empire, Dark Elves, High Elves, Orcs & Goblins and Vampire Counts.

    2. To my opinion Halfling aren't really good rider... So 3 units of cavalry it's strange.

    3. They aren't particularly good riders either, that's why they have a penchant for falling off ;)

Each unit performs a different role, with Hobilars being your basic fast cavalry with spears, Hound Riders being missile cavalry, and Ram Riders being shock cavalry, which is even more varied than what the other armies have. Plus, there are models available for all of them, so limiting their [rather weak] cavalry options just because they aren't particularly good riders in the fluff (the same which could be said for Orcs) seems rather pointless. It's not as if it's going to make them poorly balanced or anything. Though if I were to trim down their unit selection, I could see Hound Riders and Lords of the Harvest go. That being said, is that necessary to begin with?

    5. Not sure what that has to do with it... What I mean is; Orcs, much like Halflings, aren't exactly known for having great cavalry. That doesn't really stop them from having several kinds of cavalry however. Just because Halflings aren't great riders doesn't mean they would only have one type of rider. That's like saying that Bretonnia can only have one type of Infantry because their infantry isn't very good.

  10. I completly don't agree, to fluff, Orcs are know for his boar cav!
