Wood Elves 9th Ed 1.2 out now!

This update changes the following:

  • Added headings for easier navigation.
  • New page and text box backgrounds.
  • New Hero: Arch-Revenant.
  • Elven Grace: Models with this special rule have the Dodge (6+) special rule in close combat. However, this cannot be used against enemies attacking with a higher Initiative value than the defending model.
  • Blessings of the Ancients: Any model that has this special rule, and is within 6" of a forest, adds +1 to all attempts to cast and dispel spells.
  • Asrai Longbow is a Longbow. All shots with this weapon have the Armour Piercing (1) special rule.
  • Hagbane Tips are 3 pts.
  • You may not have more models of Deepwood Scouts than you have models of Glade Guard.
  • Swiftshiver Shards: Removed "If they do not move, they instead ignore the To Hit penalty for firing Multiple Shots".
  • Removed armour options for Glade Riders.
  • Wildwood Rangers are S4, cost 13 pts.
  • Warhawk Riders cost 27 pts.
  • Alters have unit size 5+.
  • Sisters of the Thorn 24 pts.
  • Meadow Chariots can take two extra crew and/or steeds.
  • Spite Revenants no longer have the Whispers in the Dark special rule. Unbridled Malice rule: Enemy units in base contact with models with this special rule must re-roll successful Leadership tests. This has no effect on units that have Immunity (Psychology). Cost 13 pts.

  • Tree Kin are Stubborn cost 48 pts.
  • Treeman 210 pts.

  • Orion costs 385 pts. Spear of Kurnous is a spear. Gives +1 S when thrown.
  • Ariel costs 540 pts.
  • Araloth costs 195 pts, is no longer stubborn (since it won't affect his unit anyway).
  • Talon of Dusk is S2, fires multiple shots, not multiple wounds.
  • Updated Skaw's Falcons to work the same way as Albion War Hawks.
  • A Blight of Terrors costs 25 pts.

  1. Hey Mathias, thanks for the update! I was hoping you would implement more bow opions in the magic items list, since there is only one bow and that one is rubbish, since you cannot take magic arrows along with it... i mean, 5-6 shots auto hitting is nice, but that wound on 4s and 5s.... along with armour.. at least it is cheap!

Otherwise you didnt change much, so nothing to complain :)

    1. They will get more magic items in the magic items expansion.

  2. -I really don't think the Traps special rule for Waystalkers is a good idea. In the chaos of battle, how would they have time?
-Why not make it that Araloth can grant a unit Stubborn and Immunity (Psychology)? Sending him out alone is a great way to get him killed but allowing him to boost a unit would be helpful.
-Is the cost of extra steeds and charioteers on the Meadow Chariot per individual or is it 5/10 points for both?

    1. - Will remove traps for them.
      - His rules has always been about him being brave on his own, not really making others so. Hence it does not fit with him giving Stubborn to his unit, which was a byeffect of the rule in 8th ed. You could still put him in a unit and then charge out out himself to tarpit an enemy unit.
      - Both.

  3. Just want to point out that the book has Orions javalin at +6str. And while fun strength 11 is obviously not what you meant to do here.

  4. On a different note: seeing all the minor army list in your release order (Zombie Coast, Karak Kadrin) - what happened to the idea of the Dark Elve Cult of Slaanesh?

Thank you for your outstanding work!

    1. I don't think there's that much too work with when it comes to the Cult of Slaanesh, there are no new suitable models for it either.

    2. I understand but couldn't the same be said about the Slayer Army? Or what am I missing here? And, if not a fully fledged list per se, at least an updated Storm of Chaos list for your 9th edition? :)

    3. The Slayer army has a few more things going for it since they got some new models from Age of Sigmar. I'm not sure I will really bother making an army list for them, but I have put it up on the list for now. Might do a quick Storm of Chaos update for Cult of Slaanesh, but not much more than that.

  5. Why the elimination of options to the Glade Riders? In 4th edition the have a medium cavalry with cuir armor and shield similar to Equites.

    1. It does not really fit with their current aesthetics, just like Glade Guards with spears. You can still use the old 5th ed models are Wild Riders with elven steeds.
